Dear Todd,
Thanks for your last letter! I was glad to get it. Sorry, I haven’t written for so long but I was busy with my schoolwork.
Well, you asked me about summer camps. Personally, I’m interested in science. Most of all, I like chemistry as it’s exciting to perform various experiments. Speaking of Russia, there are many summer camps for those who are fond of sport, science, art. As for me, I would go to a sports camp because I prefer active way of spending my time.
Sorry, I’ve got to go now. My favourite TV programme is on. Write back soon.

It’s beneficial in many ways to host international sport events.
Some countries host international sporting events. The question then arises: is it actually beneficial?
To my mind, hosting a sporting event has many advantages. First of all, the authority and popularity of a country increase. Besides, many people from different countries follow the news about preparing for an event. Secondly, a host country does its best to improve a state of old sporting objects as well as to build new ones. Finally, citizens feel proud of their country and try to be a part of an event. Moreover, some people become volunteers.
Nevertheless, I partly disagree with this point of view because the money is never wasted. Amazing opening and closing ceremonies, well-equipped stadiums, new sporting objects are definitely worth spending so much money.
To conclude, it is up to everyone whether to believe that hosting a sporting event is beneficial or not. As for me, I am still in favour of the idea that it is rather beneficial to host sporting events. I believe it has many pros.

Ряд замечаний: 1) внимательнее с артиклями — несколько ошибок на одно правило, 2) в первом абзаце, где ставится проблема, должна прозвучать двойственность, чтобы потом рассмотреть обе стороны этой проблемы, т.е. в данном случае было достаточно добавить в вопрос … or not?
Animals in the zoos. For and against.There are a lot of zoos in the world and millions of people visit them every year. But are zoos harmful or helpful to animals which are caged there?I strongly believe that we should not keep animals in zoos because captivity is not natural for them and it is a constant stress to a wild animal. Keeping animals in zoos harms them by denying them freedom of movement and association. What is more, zoos are like prisons for animals as they live in small cages and do not get necessary food. In addition, animals become very aggressive and unpredictable as they get older and often attack zoo keepers and other people.However, most people think that zoos help endangered species survive. But this is not true because most rare animals are extremely difficult to breed in captivity. Besides, in zoos, it is almost impossible to meet the animals’ natural needs. Another argument for keeping animals in zoos is that people learn something new about these animals. Actually, zoos do not teach us much because animals do not act the way they would in the wild. I think we can learn more about animals by watching wildlife programs on TV.In conclusion, I would argue that zoos do not seem to help endangered species and keeping animals behind bars only for the sake of our entertainment is not quite fair. In my opinion, people must create nature reserves, where wild animals will be able to live in their natural environment.

But then, I decided to just smile to boys and girls around and everything magically turned well. They started talking to me first or if I liked a person, I ask him a question — like, how do you like the weather today and stuff.
When did you start playing tennis? Who taught you first? When does the competition start?
I have to run now. My mom is waiting for me.

В начале работы над письмом надо попросить учащихся разделить тетрадный лист на две колонки и в первую колонку выписать вопросы Тодда, не упустив ни одного.Затем в этой же колонке надо написать ответы на них. Во второй колонке учащиеся должны записать три вопроса, которые они зададут Тодду о его экзамене на права. При этом надо стимулировать учащихся на использование разных типов вопросов: общих, специальных, разделительных. В тетрадях учащихся должна получиться следующая таблица из двух колонок:

Учащимся надо объяснить, что они должны написать второй и третий параграф письма в отведенных для этого местах макета-шаблона с опорой на заранее составленную таблицу вопросов и ответов. При этом величина первого и последнего параграфа зависит от того, сколько слов получилось в третьем и четвертом параграфе. В зависимости от этого используется либо более краткий, либо более длинный вариант первого и последего параграфов из макета — шаблона. Необходимо обратить внимание учащихся на то, что первый и последний параграфы представляют собою клише, которые могут использоваться в любом письме личного характера независимо от содержания письма-стимула и инструкций.
Как показывает практика, способ первоначального выделения вопросов и использования макета-шаблона приносит хорошие результаты и впоследствии учащиеся справляются с зданием С1 за гораздо меньший объем времени, чем это рекомендуется в инструкциях по выполнению экзамена. Научившись быстро выделять вопросы и пользоваться клише, некоторые учащиеся сокращают затраты времени на выполнение задания в 2-3 раза – до 7-10 минут, что позволяет им уделить больше времени более сложным заданиям высокого уровня, в частности, написанию эссе.
